Save the date: Apple likely to unveil the ‘iPad mini’ October 23

Make some room in your schedule because it looks as though the so-called “iPad mini” is finally on the way. According to AllThingsD, Apple will hold an invitation-only media event on October 23, and the scaled-down iPad is likely to make an appearance.

Industry insiders had been expecting invites for an October 10 event, but the date passed without mention, prompting speculation that production delays may have pushed back the release date for the smaller iPad, AllThingsD noted. A location hasn’t been confirmed, but the news site speculated the event would probably be more modest than the unveiling of the iPhone 5, which featured a performance from the Foo Fighters.

Multiple sources have reported the iPad mini is expected to have a 7.85-inch screen, and 9to5mac.com observed that case and screen protector manufacturers have started unveiling products listing dimensions. Case maker Brenthaven recently listed iPad mini cases measuring 7.5” by 4.8” by .75”.

As you get excited for the unveiling of the new iPad, don’t forget about your old iPad, even if it’s broken. It’s easy to restore a damaged iPad with a cracked screen or other problem with iResQ’s iPad repair service.
