Rescue your iPhone from water damage

iPhone /

It's always a moment you wish you could take back; your iPhone slips from between your fingers and into some form of water. Don't worry, it happens to the best of us, and it doesn't have to be the end of your device. KnowYourCell said not all hope is lost, as there are plenty of reports of people successfully drying their iPhone. If all else fails, the phone can be sent to iResQ for a diagnosis by an Apple Certified technician to see how much the phone might cost to fix.

Before sending your device in to a repair specialist, KnowYourCell said to avoid trying to restart it by plugging it into a power source.

“The most successful method is to get hold of some packets of Silica gel – which is an incredibly moisture-absorbent substance,” the website said. “If you keep your packaging for hi-fi or cameras you may already have some lying around the house.”

After getting your hands on some gel packets, pack your phone in a bag with the Silica and store it for at least three days to draw the moisture out. An alternative is sealing the iPhone in a bag or box of sealed uncooked rice.

Although these do-it-yourself techniques might work, your best bet is to get in touch with a credible Apple iPhone repair company like iResQ. If the water damage isn't too extensive, the repair pros may be able to salvage the device and get it back to you before you know it.
