Repair services, DIY can save money repairing iPhone

So someone needs to fix their broken iPhone screen because the device fell out of a pocket or off a counter. What can be done to repair it? Sending it to be fixed by Apple can be a bit pricey. Luckily, there are other options available to an iPhone owner who doesn't want to shell out too much money. WFSB reported that do-it-yourself kits or third-party repair services are cheaper alternatives to fix an iPhone.

WFSB followed one user who recently broke her iPhone. She first bought a do-it-yourself kit. Coming in at a fraction of the cost of an Apple repair, she set out to try and fix it on her own. However, even with the help of instructional videos on YouTube, she was unable to successful repair it.

As a result, she sent the phone into a repair service. The technicians were able to work through the problems she had with ease. The process was quick and the bill was cheap, coming in about half as expensive as sending the phone to an Apple store.

While techies may want to try their hand at repairing their iPhone themselves, the vast majority of owners are willing to shell over a few extra dollars and have the repair done by a service. Teardowns of the newest iPhone models, the 5S and the 5C, reveal that repair is fairly difficult, Wireless and Mobile News reported. The Touch ID home button on the 5S can cause repair issues and battery replacement is also a chore, as it is tightly glued down. Therefore, it's probably best to leave fixes to skilled technicians.

If an iPhone user has any need to repair his or her device, such as a cracked iPhone screen, send it to iResQ, the leaders in iPhone repair.
