IPads may become more popular than Macs, PCs

Whether people like it or not, the tablet revolution looks like it's here to stay. Piper Jaffray analysts said iPads will eventually “cannibalize” Macs and be more profitable, eWeek recently reported. In fact, by 2015, a 1 percent growth of tablets will garner $83 million more than a 1 percent gain in Macs.

“We believe Apple maintaining its majority (60 percent plus) market share in the ultimately larger tablet market is more important than meaningfully increasing single-digit market share in the PC space,” despite the price of Macs being two and a half times higher, wrote analysts Gene Munster and Douglas J. Clinton, according to eWeek.

The tablet market is expected to see a total of 99 million sales in 2012, with iPads accounting for about 67 percent. The analysts predicted that in 2015 301 million tablets will be sold, of which 176 million will be iPads. Over the same stretch, the PC market will go from 371 million to 484 million units, not nearly as large of a growth.

The high expectations for the tablet market may mean these trendy devices will become more commonplace in everyday life – on public transportation, during vacations, in the office. And although analysts can predict sales numbers, they cannot predict whether each and every device will hold up through the wear and tear of everyday use. Keeping the contact number of a credible iPad repair specialist on hand can help tablet owners keep their device up and running in case of any hardware issues.
