While the third-generation iPad debuted in 12 countries in March and the iPad 2 originally arrived only in the United States, the latest models arrived in a total of 34 countries, Apple Insider reported.

The site noted that researcher Brian White of Topeka Capital Markets called November 2 Apple’s "broadest and deepest iPad launch ever, just in time for the holidays." White projected sales of between 800,000 and one million iPad minis over the launch weekend and sales of seven million for the quarter, with demand outstripping supply. According to Apple Insider, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster released an even more optimistic forecast, projecting between 1 million and 1.5 million iPad mini sales for the device’s opening weekend.

While some early reports suggested lines at Apple’s retail stores were shorter than for past product launches, 9to5mac.com reported that many locations had sold out of initial shipments by the afternoon of November 2.
