iBreak stories: FOOOOORRRREEEE!

iPhone /

Who doesn't enjoy spending a day hitting the links in the California sunshine? Well, one of our customers most likely. We recently received an iPhone from an owner in Laguna, California, that had seen better days after what was supposed to be a relaxing day on the golf course.

Have you ever heard the expression “If these walls could talk…”? Well, when we got a look at the damage of the 32 GB black iPhone 5, we couldn't help but think, “Man, if this phone could talk.” It was immediately clear that the phone had been through an ordeal, suffering some pretty severe damage. According to the owner, the damage was caused by a golf cart running over the device after it had been dropped, basically crushing it.

During our diagnostic exam, we found that the metal from and back casing of the iPhone had been bent backwards, which bent the logic board along with it. This collective damage caused the iPhone to malfunction, and the device could no longer be powered on. Furthermore, we found that the phone needed a new LCD and digitizer assembly, new cameras and a new battery for us to get it operational once more.

While this iPhone repair would be a major project, we at iResQ are happy to take on such a task. However, in cases like this, it is often the customer who is unsure if we should move forward as they weigh the pros and cons of repairing the phone versus buying a new one altogether.
