From BlackBerry to iPhone 5

iPhone /

With the iPhone storm that has been sweeping across the nation, this news might not come as much surprise to you: Bloomberg reported on November 20 that the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board announced its plan to switch from BlackBerry to Apple's iPhone 5. This government agency includes roughly 400 employees, but its adoption of the iPhone can be viewed as a significant switch as it's part of a trend of organizations leaving their formerly trusty BlackBerrys by the wayside in favor of hot Apple products.

This news comes on the heels of a similar announcement in October from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. ICE announced on October 22 that it planned to end its contract with BlackBerry maker Research In Motion in favor of the iPhone, Reuters reported. This was big news, as the agency employs more than 17,600 people. The purchase of new iPhones was worth roughly $2.1 million.

According to 9to5Mac, an NTSB notice released on the agency's website indicated that BlackBerrys have been “failing at inopportune times and at an unacceptable rate.”

As more people make the switch to the iPhone 5, it's good to know that iResQ's iPhone repair services can get your device back to working order should anything ever happen to it – since, really, there's never an opportune time for a smartphone to break.
