Extensions can improve iPhone photo capabilities

With the release of each new model, the iPhone is becoming less of a phone and more of a multimedia tool. One way users like to interact is through photos. The iPhone camera has steadily improved and many people are even beginning to use their devices for professional photography. While the camera is high quality in and of itself, there are plenty of attachments that can take your iPhone photography to the next level, according to Calgary Herald contributor Ted Kritsonis.

Kritsonis outlined three different attachments that can be used with an iPhone camera:

  • Olloclip: This attachment goes right over the corner of the phone where the carmera lens is positioned, and includes three different lens attachments so users can mix and match
  • Pitch Black Dot: While nearly the same as the Olloclip, this lens attachment also allows for 360-degree video capture and panoramic shots
  • The Sony QX100: Available to work on any smartphone, the QX100 provides users with an optical zoom and also takes improved shots in nighttime and low-light settings

IPhone users should also be in the market for a photo editing application on their phone if they plan on taking a lot of pictures. TechRadar recently explored some of the top applications people can download onto their devices.

Once such app is Pro Camera, which can adjust exposure and focus like a dedicated camera device. This allows for greater flexibility in different lighting situations and produces photos that are sharper, both of which the standard iPhone photo app can't do.

Another is Snapseed, which is a picture editing tool that enables users to not only add basic filters and contrasts to their photos, but also provides more control, such as finely-tuned exposure and selective area control to improve the photo quality.
