Coming September 12: The new iPhone (probably)!

iPhone /

There have been hints for a while that Apple will announce an updated iPhone on September 12, but an announcement to the press made the date (almost!) official. Although the subject of the scheduled September 12 event is still under wraps, many people are expecting that it will feature the unveiling of the iPhone 5.

The invitation showed the number 12 casting a shadow in the shape of the number 5 and read “It’s almost here,” strongly suggesting the focus of the event, which will take place at 10 a.m. in San Francisco.

Reuters cited a source who said the iPhone 5 will likely have a 4-inch screen, which would be slightly larger than the 3.5-inch screen the iPhone has had since 2007. CNN noted that rumors have also claimed there will be 4G network speeds and a faster processor, but nothing has been confirmed.

The iPhone 5 is expected to be a popular option for the many fans of Apple products. According to CNN, the most recent iPhone, the 4S, has sold 100 million units since its launch. People who bought that version and aren’t ready to upgrade always have the option of iPhone repair from iResQ. And if you’re scared that a larger display means more opportunities to crack your iPhone screen, don’t worry: iResQ will have you covered.
