Awards highlight consumers’ favorite picks from iTunes Store
MacRumors reported that Apple released its annual iTunes Store Awards, which names the most popular consumer choices for music, movies, TV shows, apps, books and podcasts for the past year.
"Along with selecting the year's best releases, we've highlighted 2012's top stories – the notable trends and events shaping the growth and evolution of apps and games," a spokesperson for Apple said.
MacRumors detailed that 2012 marked the first time in two years that no photography apps made the list, and this was also the first year that an editor's choice award was giving to an entertainment app.
Notable winners for apps include Action Movie FX, Rayman Jungle Run, Paper by FiftyThree and Room. Apple declared the best album as "Shields" by Grizzly Bear, the best song to be "We Are Young" by Fun. and the breakthrough album of the year to be "The Lumineers" by The Lumineers. In the arena of digital books, Apple named "The Dog Stars" by Peter Heller to be the best novel of the year and the best multi-touch book to be "Fashion" by DK Publishing.
