Apple still dominates mobile PC market

The Apple iPad has been getting stronger over the past year, especially with the release of the new model, and a new forecast from NPD shows that the company has continued its domination over the first quarter of 2012. The wild popularity of the device is great, especially since there are many options for iPad repair, meaning the devices have the ability to be long-lasting.

The NPD DisplaySearch report shows that the iPad has 63 percent of mobile PC market share and has seen a 162 percent year-to-year growth from the first quarter of 2011. There were 13.6 million units shipped in the first quarter, ahead of Samsung and Amazon. NPD said the China market may be a big reason for growth.

“The China region had sequential quarter shipment growth, achieving 13 percent for mobile PCs overall, 12 percent for notebook and mini-note PCs, and 16 percent for tablet PCs,” said Richard Shim, NPD DisplaySearch Senior Analyst. “This is noteworthy given the sequential declines in all other regions as well as the declines in other product categories including TVs and monitors.”

In total mobile PC shipments, the report has Apple ahead of the back there as well, with 22.5 percent of the market share. Any new buyers of the Apple tablet should know that great iPad repair options are readily available.
