Apple iPads help kids with autism communicate

For kids with autism, the Apple iPad provides a great tool for communicating with their parents, teachers and others. CNN reports that Sharia Sheikh, a young child diagnosed with autism, has been using the iPad to help communicate things to people in her life that she was previously unable to.

Sharia was introduced to applications, such as First Words and ABCs and Me, to help her learn new subjects. Many experts now say learning apps can help kids with autism in their developmental process.

“I think (the iPad) is revolutionizing the augmentative communication field,” said Dr. Oliver Wendt, assistant professor of speech, language and hearing sciences at Purdue University, according to the news source. “It's a very cost-effective system. Before, we had these expensive, bulky items, which now can be replaced with an iPad.”

If there's ever a situation where the iPad screen were to break, there is iPad glass repair and other great options available with the iResQ advantage. The repair company provides tablet owners with the peace of mind that they can get their device repaired quickly and returned to the children so they continue using the device to communicate and advance their learning.
