For many people, it's already hard to remember a world without iPhones. Before we had these sleek devices to keep us entertained, what did we do while waiting in airports. Did we really use two different devices for phone calls and listening to music? Now, it may seem the iPhone was an inevitable technology, but one Apple executive is saying the device almost didn't exist, according to The Telegraph. Users should be thanking their lucky stars that the device does exist, and even if someone is unlucky enough to have a broken device, iPhone repair is there to help out and get it running again.
Sir Jonathan Ive, Apple's senior vice president of industrial design and the man behind the iPod, said there were many times when the device was almost completely scrapped because Apple couldn't quite figure out how to work around flaws in the design, according to the news source
“We nearly shelved the phone because we thought there were fundamental problems that we can't solve. With the early prototypes, I held the phone to my ear and my ear [would] dial the number,” he told the Telegraph. “You have to detect all sorts of ear-shapes and chin shapes, skin colour and hairdo … that was one of just many examples where we really thought, perhaps this isn’t going to work.”
